Willow Weaving with Rosemary

22nd Nov 2022

The children in 4th class had a great day today working with Rosemary Kavanagh, the basket maker and heritage specialist. After a classroom session where the children looked at a slideshow presented by Rosemary, they were divided into small groups to work with her and to learn how to weave with willow.

During the slideshow the children saw images of many types of traditional baskets. They learnt how the willow grows, different varieties and colours of willow, how and when to harvest and uses of the various baskets, The day was so relaxing and wholesome! We loved it!
