Ms Lyons’ 5th Class and Ms Jeffers’ 3rd Class had a very exciting afternoon today.
We had a visit from the illustrator, Andrew Whitson who is known by the name Mr Ando.
We were lucky to receive this visit as Mr Ando dedicated his latest book to James in 3rd Class and his sister Lucy in 5th Class.
Mr Ando told us about his work as an illustrator and show us his personal sketchbook. It was fascinating to see his work. He also showed us some examples of books that he has illustrated.
The workshop was very interactive and he drew some examples of animals on a flip chart. The children copied the drawings step by step on paper. Then we talked about our drawings and he gave us loads of praise and encouragement!
Bhí sé ag labhairt as Gaeilge agus as Béarla agus bhí na páiste ag éisteacht go cúramach. Bhí siad ag foghlaim focail nua agus ag labhairt le Mr Ando as Gaeilge freisin.
To finish, Mr Ando showed us his latest book, Saintí sa Bhaile. Is leabhar Gaeilge é.
Mr Ando gave a personalised signed copy to each child and we got a picture with him.
It was an extremely enjoyable afternoon and we are so grateful to Mr Ando for being so generous and kind.
