Native Irish Hedgerow at Mount Eden
The crew of Club Dúlra were amazing in both their hard work and interest in planting the native Irish hedgerow on Thursday before mid-term. Our hedgerow arrived carefully wrapped up in straw and contained Guelder Rose, Hazel, Elder, Hawthorne and Bird Cherry. Over time, not only will this hedgerow provide delicious berries for the birds but also wonderful blossoms for pollination. We are so proud to have this natural feeding ground and habitat on our school site. Our caretaker, Sean, prepared the ground for us in advance and all we had to do was dig the appropriate size hole for each of the bare-root trees. Some children also worked on clearing a section and gathering logs for the log pile! The Club Dúlra gang took over the show and did trojan work as can be seen in these photos! Go raibh maith agaibh, Club Dúlra!
