Ms. Lynch's Senior Infant Butterflies.

30th May 2023

What a wonderful few weeks we have had in Senior Infants watching these beautiful creatures transform from caterpillars to butterflies.

On Thursday the 27th of April we welcomed five female caterpillars into our Senior infant Classroom. Each caterpillar was given a name by our table groups in the class.

Every day for a period of time, the boys and girls would observe the caterpillars as they feed and move around their temporary home. It was magical to watch our caterpillars grow and form chrysalides where they stayed for approximately 10 days. On Friday the 19th of May our first butterfly emerged and was shortly followed by the others. We gave the butterflies some chopped oranges to ensure they were provided with the nourishment they need. We enjoyed creating various artwork based on our butterflies and the children created some beautiful cards to wish our butterflies farewell!
