5th Class Hurricane Tower Challenge ๐ŸŒช๏ธ

4th Dec 2024

Today’s Mission: Build a 30cm-high freestanding tower that could withstand wind, rain, and a tennis ball drop using:

  • 10 sheets of paper ๐Ÿ“„
  • 2m of tape ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ
  • 10 lollipop sticks ๐Ÿญ

The Challenge

Each team designed and built a tower, testing its strength against:

  1. Tennis Ball Drop ๐ŸŽพ
  2. Hurricane Winds ๐Ÿ’จ (via hairdryer)
  3. Rain & Damage ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Highlights

  • Creative Designs: Triangular bases and rolled paper added strength.
  • Unexpected Results: Fragile-looking towers stood firm, while sturdy ones sometimes toppled.
  • Lessons Learned: Balance, structural shapes, and teamwork make all the difference.

We loved testing our creations and learned from their designs’ strengths and failures. A few tweaks, and we’d be ready to face a real storm!

Check out the photos of our towers! ๐Ÿ“ธ

Great work, team engineers! ๐Ÿ‘
