Going to plant the hawthorn tree.

11th Oct 2024

On the 3rd October, National Tree Day, we learnt all about the hawthorn tree.  We were very lucky to receive two hawthorn saplings to plant on our school grounds - one for our junior school at Belmont Avenue and one for the senior school at Mount Eden Road.  We are very grateful to the Tree Council of Ireland for sending these to our school. The following day, all the junior infant classes came outside to plant the first of the trees.  Seán, our school caretaker, had everything prepared for us.   The children were so excited especially that the hawthorn is known as the fairy tree and the place where the fairies gather!   We can’t wait to decorate this space   🧚‍♀️   and to watch the hawthorn tree grow with us!
