Capacity Challenge in Ms. O'Gara's Class
We have been learning all about capacity in Junior Infants. Today we went outside to complete a capacity experiment. At first, each team was given a different instrument to fill their bowl, a small plastic cup, two different sized lunchboxes and a crayon pot. The teams competed to see who could fill their bowl first. This game highlighted that the group with the biggest container, could fill their bowl up the fastest, as this container could hold the most liquid. Next, we had a fair competition in which each group had the same size container and the race was on! It was a very tight competition. The children had 5 minutes to fill up their bowl. We used a measuring jug to see which group had filled their bowl the most at the end of the time. The children really enjoyed playing and learning in the sunshine.
