Busy Work in the Garden & Bird Nesting Boxes

17th May 2022

With the help of our caretaker, Seán, we have installed different types of bird nesting boxes both at Belmont and Mt. Eden. Mr Molloy used his excellent woodwork skills to make the Belmont bird boxes and did a great job. He also made a wonderful bat nesting box and hedgehog box which we are really excited about. We have taken note of birds that have visited both campuses and use the charts around the school to help us to identify the birds that we see.

We put out a variety of bird food including Nyger seeds, sunflower hearts, fat balls and our very own mixture of bird-cake! The Club Dúlra crew made the most recent batch of bird cake and this seems to be going down a treat!

The children recently planted poppy seeds along a strip in the pollinator friendly zone and as the Greenschool Committee have a watering rota, this ensures that everything we have planted gets watered every day.
