A Special Visit: 6th Class Spreads Joy in Senior Infants

15th Oct 2024

Recently, our 6th class students had the delightful opportunity to visit the senior infants in Belmont. The day was filled with laughter, learning, and plenty of creative activities that brought both classes together in a spirit of fun and collaboration.

One of the highlights of the visit was making Christmas cards. Our 6th class students helped the younger ones get creative with their cards. It was wonderful to see the senior infants’ eyes light up with enjoyment.

In addition to the card-making, we engaged in Aistear, a playful and interactive learning framework. The older students guided the infants through various themed stations, encouraging imaginative play and exploration. It was a joy to witness their friendships blossom through play.

Shared reading was another significant part of the day. Our 6th class students took turns reading stories aloud, sparking the infants’ imaginations and instilling a love for books. The children giggled at some of the funny parts, and a few brave souls even tackled some spooky poems! It was a fantastic way to encourage a sense of adventure in reading.

To round off the visit, the older students assisted with some fun maths activities. Using games and hands-on exercises, they helped the infants grasp basic concepts in an engaging way. Watching the younger students proudly show off their new skills was truly heartwarming.

Overall, the visit was a tremendous success, filled with learning, laughter, and the joy of mentorship. Our 6th class students returned with big smiles, knowing they made a positive impact on the lives of their younger peers. We can’t wait for the next opportunity to connect and share in more fun activities!
