The Parents Association (PA)

The Parents Association (PA) is open to all parents or guardians of children enrolled in the school. It facilitates an active partnership and good communication between the parents and the school. The PA raises funds to support the school and provides additional resources for the teachers and classrooms. The PA encourages all parents to get involved in the life of the school and always welcomes volunteers to support and help with all PA activities and initiatives.

The Parent in each class nominate two “Class Reps”, who generally serve a term of two years. The Class Reps participate in the Parents Association, attend the monthly meetings and communicate any messages from the PA to the rest of the parents.

Monthly Meetings:

The PA meet once a month to discuss upcoming topics such as upcoming fund raisers, upcoming class activities or any issues relevant to the school. The meetings last approximately 1 hour. The Class Reps attend the meeting but all other parents and guardians are also welcome to attend. If there are particular topics you wish to be discussed by the PA, please email stmarysbelmontpa@gmail.com so it can be added to the agenda for the next meeting.

Examples of Activities Organised by the PA:

  • Social night – Wine & Cheese
  • Grandparents Day
  • Family Fun Day
  • 4th Class – Knitting/Crocheting
  • 6th Class – Graduation Lunch

Parents Association

Dear Parents,

This year’s Walk to School Week runs from October 7th – 11th and we would love everyone to get involved!

Walk to School Week promotes walking and encourages as many students as possible to walk or Park & Stride to school. Walking to school is one of the best ways to start the day with multiple benefits to children’s physical and mental health.  Walking is great for the environment as it reduces the number of cars at the school gate, reduces congestion, air pollution and road safety issues.

We hope to engage in lots of fun activities at school that week to promote walking to school. Our big focus for the week is National Walk to School Day on Wednesday October 9th and we are asking everyone to make a special effort to participate that day.

We are meeting our new Greenschool Committee for the first time tomorrow.  We can’t wait.  We will keep you informed of all news relating to Greenschools at St. Mary’s during the year.

A massive massive thanks to all the teachers, pupils and Parents' Association representatives for the work done over the last week on the Dignity Pack project. The PA had hoped to make about 100 packs but have actually produced over 200 thanks to the generosity of families in the community. The Dignity Packs will be delivered to the Capuchin Day Centre who will distribute them to the users of their service. A number of surplus items will be donated locally.
